A loss is only a loss if you walk away gaining nothing from the experience. After a rough match to Iowa we were able to experience where we eventually want to be and surpass as a competitive division one program. While often times it is hard to always enjoy “the process,” it is in fact still part of “the process” and a necessary bump in the road that makes us stronger on the way. Taking the learning experience and tucking it in the back of our mind, we decided as a team before walking off the Iowa field to make every day of practice this week one in which gets us closer to the top, to reach new self-limits, and to challenge each other to get better before the end of each training session. We may not be able to see the top of the mountain just yet, but we all have an image of what it will be like when we get there and the process of getting there will be that much sweeter knowing we didn’t just fall there.

Season Opener

To say we are a young team is an understatement. Setting an NCAA Division 1 record with the most freshmen on a team having 21, hopefully wont be the only record the Coyote Women’s Soccer team sets this season. Although the team is new and very young, sitting down to dinner tonight one would never guess that just a little over two weeks ago these now teammates were complete strangers to one another. The past two weeks we have asked each player to get better in one area of their game every training session, everyday, every week. Intense training sessions and time spent on the field working on technique and tactics of the game has been equally matched with time spent off the field breaking down the dynamics of what makes up a team and family.

Our match against rival UND will measure our hard work the last few weeks and will also expose our lack of experience at the college level. Regardless, we are ready and anxious to get this season started. We are young yes, but have nowhere to go but up and will learn and grow as a team, family and very strong Coyote pack.

My favorite soccer memory is when i scored my first high school goal with my head from a cross.

The best place I have ever traveled to is Hawaii.

I am most looking forward to meeting new friends and creating new memories at USD.

I am planning on studying elementary education at USD.

One thing people do not know about me is I get scared really easily. Like if someone were to jump out and scare me i scream really loud.

My favorite food is macaroni and cheese.

My biggest pet peeve is when people are dishonest.

To be a coyote means a lot to me is to represent USD on and off the soccer field and also to get to have new and exciting opportunities.

Costa Rica. It was beautiful there, and the friends I made were incredible.

What is your favorite soccer memory?

My favorite soccer memory was the summer before I entered seventh grade. The summer before my club team had won the Nebraska State Games and we were invited to a tournament called State Games of America at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Co. We ended up winning the tournament and beating all these other teams from around the U.S.. I guess it’s my favortie memory because I had never played soccer in such a cool place, we were surrounded by mountains and I think that weekend is when I really fell in love with soccer.

What’s the best place you’ve ever traveled to?

Colorado

What are you most looking forward to at USD?

Of course I’m excited to go to college and have some independence but most of all I’m excited for the experience as a whole, meeting new people, figuring out what i want to do with my life, etc. Also playing soccer is a huge bonus.

Contemporary Media and Journalism-Emphasis in Advertising (Possibly I may change my mind, you never know)

How many siblings do you have?

- I am an only child!

What is your favorite soccer memory?

- My favorite memory would probably have to be junior year metros. We were playing bellevue west and it went into a shoot out. They were shooting second and we were in the lead. I save the upper 90 shot to win and go on in the tourny. Afterwards my whole team doggy piled on top of me. It was pretty exciting.

Whats the best place you ever traveled?

- The best place would either be to las vegas or on a cruise to cozamel mexico.

What are you most looking forward to at USD?

-Im looking forward to meeting new friends for the rest of my life, playing soccer, having the “college” experience and being successfull.

What are you planning on majoring in?

- Criminal Justice

What is one thing most people dont know about you?

- People usually know everything im a very open person.

- When people snore would be my biggest one. and when people eat loudly.

.) My favorite soccer memory is winning the 2010 MN Class A State Championship with a perfect season with my best friends. It was our dream and we made it come true.

2.) In June, when I go to Costa Rica, that will be my favorite place I’ve traveled to.

3.) At USD, I am looking forward to a new start, away from home.

4.) I plan to major in Psychology or Psychiatry and minor in Spanish.

5.) I have left-right confusion, which means I can’t process left or right directions very well (or at all). I actually wrote something that started with “L” on my left hand, so I could pass my driver’s test. :)

6.) My favorite food is my mom’s homemade lasagna.

7.) I hate it when people pee on the toilet seat and/or don’t flush.

8.) To me, being a Coyote is about dedication, determination, and giving 100% for my teammates, nothing less.

9.) I have one sibling, my baby sister Caitlyn (12.5).
